ASSISTANT VICE-CHANCELLOR'S WELCOME NOTE

Assalamualaikum and peace be upon you.

The Corporate & Quality Affairs Department or Jabatan Hal Ehwal Korporat & Kualiti (JHKK) welcomes you to the JHKK Portal. Through this portal, it is hoped that useful information on the roles and functions of JHKK can be disseminated to the public. In line with the responsibilities given by the university management, JHKK focuses on the aspects of corporate development, quality management as well as information management and analysis.

UMP believes that systematic planning is very important to guide UMP towards achieving its vision and mission which have been agreed upon. It is very important to ensure that all plans are being implemented effectively and efficiently. Periodic monitoring of the implementation is crucial to ensure the achievement of the targets which have been set.

In this regard, JHKK has been entrusted to ensure that the UMP Strategic Plan is developed, implemented and its performance analysed. To ensure that UMP is moving on the right track towards becoming a world-class technical university, strategic planning has been developed for the university management and all members of staff to embrace and hold on to as guidance and directions to pave the way and execute the realization of the goal.

The university management recognizes that the existing human resources at UMP are the most important elements in initiating the efforts and the moves towards achieving and realizing the vision and mission of the university. In this regard, all members of staff at UMP have embraced the aspect of quality as a culture which is to be truly understood, appreciated and cultivated. Quality covers all aspects of planning and taking action as well as generating products and services.

The Total Quality Management Approach (TQM) has been used in line with the government's directive in order to ensure the cultivation of the aspect of quality as a culture among UMP members of staff at all levels. Through TQM, the basic and key programs that must be implemented by UMP have also been identified to ensure that the cultivation of quality can be implemented. Among the quality programs currently being implemented and cultivated are the 5S Practices, MS ISO 9001: 2000, Innovative & Creative Groups (KIK), MS ISO / IEC 17025: 2005 and others.

The cultivation of quality is very important to be implemented so that it becomes customary in every action and behaviour of the staff members. When this can be truly understood and implemented, work productivity can be gradually enhanced in line with the progress of cultivation of the aspect of quality as a culture at the workplace. Corporate planning and quality management coordinated by the JHKK requires the support of inputs of information and data.

The university's management has placed responsibility on JHKK to manage the coordination of the university’s information and data. This is to prevent confusion in the dissemination of the information and data to the concerned parties. Systematic, effective and efficient management of information and data is essential to enable the university management to use them for matters related to the university's operation and strategy management. The university management will be able to make important decisions in the administration of the university based on correct and accurate information and data.

Meanwhile, the accuracy of the information and data provided to the related stakeholders can be guaranteed which in turn will enhance the university’s image as a result of efficient management of its information and data. It is hoped that this portal is able to provide a comprehensive overview of the functions and responsibilities of JHKK. Apart from that, the portal also enables visitors to understand the services provided by UMP in general.
